Aiming to create a sense of community, Lawrenceville Main Street is sponsoring a market that will feature an assortment of vendors – from food to crafts – for some last-minute holiday shopping next weekend.

The first-ever Lawrenceville Main Street Winter Market will run from noon to 3 p.m. on Dec. 15 in Weeden Park, next to the U.S. Post Office. It will follow the ribbon-cutting for the Sculpture in the Park exhibit at noon.

The Sculpture in the Park exhibit in Weeden Park features sculptures created by a group of artists and sculptors from the Grounds for Sculpture’s Artists of the Motor Exhibit Building in Hamilton Township. It will be on display for one year.

Visitors to the Winter Market will be able to meet the artists and sculptors, said Kelly Edelstein, executive director of Lawrenceville Main Street. The nonprofit group was formed in 1996 to encourage the revitalization of Main Street in the village of Lawrenceville.

Meanwhile, more than three dozen vendors will offer paintings, crafts, sculptures, tea, spices and assorted gifts, Edelstein said. The vendors come from as near as Lawrence Township and as far as Hightstown.

Visitors and shoppers to the Winter Market can view offerings from vendors such as Otto and Berk, which offers holiday cards, to Forest and Farm, which specializes in handcrafted furniture and accessories.

Abe’s Acres Farm offers produce and herbs that are grown sustainably, while OverSea by Raffaella Stello offers handmade jewelry.

And of course, there will be food available for purchase. Lawrenceville Main Street is offering hot cocoa, and Matty G’s Dogs is selling hot dogs and sausage sandwiches. Cafe au Pain is bringing lunch and baked goods.

The Winter Market and similar events serve to help further sense of community here in town and drive customers to the small businesses on Main Street and the surrounding streets in the village of Lawrenceville, Edelstein said.

“There is nothing better than seeing an entire community engage and enjoy together. Community engagement is at the heart of everything we do here at Lawrenceville Main Street,” Edelstein said.
