Jingle Bells 5k

Alec Trapani of Kendall Park was the top overall finisher in the Orange Theory Fitness Jingle Bells 5k, which was held last Saturday in West Windsor. Trapani covered the course in 17 minutes, 1 second to finish 44 seconds ahead of Marquis Cox of Mount Laurel. Katie Chaput of Lawrence was the third overall finisher and first female, finishing in 18:29.

Princeton resident Keith Moulton finished eighth in 20:17.

Princeton U hockey

The Princeton men’s ice hockey team fell to 3-6-1 when it dropped a pair of games to Quinnipiac last weekend. The Tigers lost on the road, 3-0, last Friday before dropping a 6-3 decision at Baker Rink on Saturday. Jackson Cressey scored a pair of goals in the loss at home. Princeton, which has now lost five straight games, will be home this weekend when it plays Arizona State in games at Baker Rink on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Princeton women’s ice hockey team improved to 7-2-3 with a pair of victories  over Quinnipiac last weekend. The Tigers won, 3-2, at Baker Rink on Friday night before posting a 4-1 win on the road on Saturday. Claire Thompson scored a pair of goals in the victory on Friday night. Sarah Fillier scored a pair of goals in the triumph on Saturday. Princeton is on the road this weekend, playing at RPI on Friday and at Union on Saturday.

HONORED

John Lovett

The Princeton University senior was awarded the 2018 Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year during a ceremony on Monday. Lovett becomes just the fifth two-time Bushnell Cup winner in Ivy history, and the first ever from Princeton. Lovett defeated teammate Jesper Horsted in a historic final vote; this was the first time one school had both finalists for either the Offensive or Defensive Player of the Year since the Ivy started this format in 2011.

Lovett ranked first in the Ivy League in total offense (303.0 yards/game), second in rushing (99.3 yards/game) and second in passing (203.7 yards/game). He finished the season with 18 passing touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns.

Princeton U soccer

The Princeton men’s soccer coaching staff, led by head coach Jim Barlow, has been named the Northeast Regional Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches. The Tigers won the Ivy League this season and made their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance.

The team started the year 1-3 and lost just twice over the next 14 games. The Tigers had a stretch of eight games in which they were unbeaten. Princeton’s season ended after they tied Michigan in the NCAA first round with the Wolverines advancing in penalty kicks in the 14th round.

COLLEGE

Austin Hutcherson

The Hun School graduate is averaging 17.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Wesleyan College men’s basketball team. Hutcherson, a sophomore, has started all six games this season for the Cardinals. He scored a season-high 25 points in an 85-71 victory over Farmingdale State on Nov. 28.

Wesleyan is currently 3-3 on the season following an 80-65 loss to second-ranked Williams. The Cardinals were scheduled to host Johnson and Wales on Thursday and will play at Brandeis on Saturday.
