Manalapan Police Beat, Dec. 12

The Manalapan Police Department reported the following incidents that occurred in the municipality:

• Shortly before 6 p.m. Nov. 29, a 32-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown individual attempted to gain access to a locked vehicle that was parked on Willow Grove Way. The incident occurred at about 3 a.m. and a suspect was not identified.

• On Nov. 29 at 3:49 p.m., a 42-year-old Manalapan resident reported that an unknown individual gained access to an unlocked vehicle that was parked in her driveway on Willow Grove Way sometimes during the night of Nov. 28. The woman reported that a flashlight, about $5 in loose change, a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card and a can of pepper spray were all taken from the her vehicle. A suspect was not identified.

• On Nov. 29 at 7:53 a.m., Patrolman Ross Dessel responded to a residence on Locust Grove Lane in reference to a motor vehicle that was stolen. A 46-year-old Manalapan resident reported that her 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan was taken by unknown individuals during the previous overnight hours. The vehicle was believed to have been left unlocked with the key inside.

• On Nov. 28 at 3:30 p.m., Patrolman Jason Vigneault responded to Wawa, Woodward Road, to investigate a report of the theft of landscape equipment. Police said an investigation determined that two unknown men removed a RedMax backpack blower and a Husqvarna hedge trimmer from a landscape trailer. The equipment was valued at $850. The suspects were described as white males, one in his 20’s, unshaven, with wavy brown hair, wearing a neon yellow winter hat, and one possibly in his 50’s, unshaven, with grey hair, wearing a dark colored winter hat. The suspects were observed driving a newer model white Dodge Ram Crew Cab truck and appeared to be pulling a small horse trailer.

• On Nov. 26 at 7:18 p.m., Patrolman Adam Sosnowski and Patrolman Christopher Makwinski responded to the area of North Parsonage Way to investigate a report of a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash involving a light pole. Police said a 53-year-old resident of Manalapan was charged with driving while intoxicated and multiple motor vehicle violations.
