The statement reported he was charged with several offenses, including aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, obstruction, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, being a certain person not eligible to possess a weapon and possessing a large capacity magazine.

According to the report, at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers responding to the apartments were met with the caller who indicated her boyfriend had punched her in the leg and allegedly wielded a handgun, which he reportedly used to shatter a television screen, and threatened to kill her.

The suspect was reported to have then left the scene, but officers said they observed him return to the complex while they were on location taking a report. Officials said they then approached the man and identified him, but he allegedly refused to exit his vehicle.

Officers said they attempted to negotiate with the man due to the likelihood that he was armed, but said he did not cooperate, according to reports. Once he allegedly resisted arrest, the township police reported they approached the vehicle and took him into custody.

According to the police, a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun was recovered from a tree line beyond the area where the suspect parked his vehicle and was noted to be the same firearm used in the earlier incident, according to reports.

Officials said the man was lodged at the Burlington County Jail pending a detention hearing.

The New Jersey State Police – Bordentown Barracks, Bordentown City Police Department and Mansfield Township Police Department assisted with the incident.
