Brandeis University meeting to focus on diva Sophie Tucker

Brandeis University Middlesex Chapter will meet at 1 p.m. on Jan. 16 to discuss Sophie Tucker as the “Last of the Red Hot Mamas” at the East Brunswick Library, Civic Center Drive off Ryders Lane, East Brunswick.
The business icon wowed audiences from 1906-66 as an early champion of women’s rights, a passionate philanthropist and supporter of civil rights.
Marcia Midler will discuss Tucker’s story of her rags to riches rise to fame.
The program is free and open to the public
The January social justice collection will collect household items for the parents staying at the Ronald McDonald House while their children are hospitalized.
The Brandeis National Committee Magnify the Mind: Advancing Neuroscience Research campaign will accept donations.
