The New Year’s Day tradition continues as marching bands and beautifully crafted floats stroll down Pasadena’s Colorado Boulevard when NBC airs The 130th Tournament of Roses Parade on Tuesday, Jan. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET/8:30 a.m to 10 a.m. PT. Singer, songwriter, and philanthropist Chaka Khan will serve as the 2019 Grand Marshal. This edition of the iconic parade is themed The Melody of Life, celebrating Music, the universal language. As an added bonus for millions of viewers around the world, Chaka is scheduled to perform in the parade’s opening spectacular. The Pasadena Police Department estimates that more than 700,000 spectators will line the five-and-one-half mile parade route. Tens of millions of people worldwide watch the telecast every year. The Rose Parade features three types of entries: floral-decorated floats sponsored by a participating corporation or community organization, equestrian units, and marching bands.

ABC to air America’s biggest live New Year’s television broadcast, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2019, beginning live at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, Dec. 31.
