Princeton U basketball

The Princeton University men’s basketball team improved to 6-5 with an 81-79 victory at Lafayette on Dec. 21. Devin Cannady led the Tigers with 24 points, while Myles Stephens and Richmond Arizguzoh delivered 14 points apiece. The Tigers will play at Arizona State on Saturday.
The Princeton women evened their record at 7-7 with a 75-38 triumph at Hartford on Dec. 21. Bella Alarie led the Tigers with 24 points and 11 rebounds, Carlie Littlefield collected 12 points in the victory. Princeton will play at New Hampshire on Saturday.
Princeton U ice hockey
The Princeton University ice hockey teams are back in action with a full slate of games scheduled for Baker Rink. The PU men will be the host to Maine on Friday and Saturday in 7 p.m. starts. The Tigers are 3-8-2 after playing Penn State to a 4-4 tie on Dec. 15.
The Princeton women will be home to Merrimack on Sunday and Monday in 3 p.m. starts. The Tigers are 9-2-3 and will take a 12-game unbeaten streak into the games with Merrimack. They have matches the program record for an unbeaten streak.

Desmond Cambridge
The Hun School graduate was named the Ivy League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after scoring 18 of his game-high 30 points in the second half of Brown’s 78-53 victory at Marist.  Cambridge, a sophomore, is third in the Ivy League in scoring at 17.3 `points per game. The 30 points against Marist were the third time in his career Cambridge has scored 30 or more points.
Cambridge was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year last year. The Bears are back in action on Saturday at San Diego State.
Princeton U football

The Maxwell Football Club announced that Princeton University head coach Bob Surace has been selected as the winner of the Club’s 21st Andy Talley Tri-State Coach of the Year Award, and that All-America quarterback John Lovett was named the recipient of the Brian Westbrook Tri-State Player of the Year.

Surace engineered an incredible 2018 season, guiding the Tigers to a 10-0 record and a No. 8 FCS national ranking. Along the way Princeton set an Ivy League record for scoring offense (47.0 points/game) and was ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring offense (second), total offense (third), third-down conversion percentage (third), turnover margin (fourth), rushing offense (sixth) and rushing defense (seventh).

Lovett had one of the best seasons in Princeton history while spearheading the record-setting Tigers to an undefeated season and outright Ivy League championship. He led the Ivy League in total offense (303 yards per game) and was second in rushing (99.3 yards) and passing (203.7 yards).

Lovett completed 66 percent of his passes for 1,833 yards, a league-best 18 touchdowns and three interceptions. He ran for 894 yards and scored another 13 touchdowns and finished his career with a rushing touchdown in a record 20 straight games.

COLLEGE
Chase Ta
The Montgomery High School graduate has started all eight games this season for the Skidmore College men’s basketball team. Ta is averaging 5.6 points and a team-high 4.1 assists a game for the Thoroughbreds.
Skidmore is 5-3 on the season after a 95-54 victory over Vassar on Dec. 12. The team is back in action on Jan. 4 at RPI and will play at Union on Jan. 5.
