North Brunswick scholar athlete balances school, sports

NORTH BRUNSWICK – Emily Hill has found a way to balance academics with myriad volunteer opportunities.

Emily has been selected as the Scholar/Athlete/Artist for November, as declared by the North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services during the Nov. 19 North Brunswick Township Council meeting.

Emily is a sophomore at North Brunswick Township High School (NBTHS) with a GPA of 4.1. She currently takes several honors classes and her favorite subjects are biology, English and French, according to the proclamation read in her honor.

Emily is a member of the school’s French Club and is a two-year member of NBTHS PUSH (Prevention Using Student Help) Club.

She has played the flute and piccolo for the past three years in the North Brunswick Raider Marching Band.

Emily is the captain of the junior varsity girls’ soccer team where she plays defense, and also runs both winter and spring girls’ track.

Emily played North Brunswick Recreational Soccer for several years and North Brunswick Travel Soccer for two years. She volunteered with the North Brunswick Soccer Buddy Ball program for four years and also dedicated her time at the North Brunswick Public Library where she organized books in the children’s section and shelved books returned to the library. She has been the assistant coach at Raider Soccer Camp for kids ages 5-13 for the past two years and was a leader at Grace Alliance Church’s Vacation Bible School, according to the proclamation.

Emily has also worked as a referee for the North Brunswick Soccer Club for two years.

Her aspirations are to attend college and major in English, political science or biology, according to the proclamation.
