Veterans who served in Korea invited to attend monthly meetings

Central Jersey Chapter 148 of the Korean War/Defense Veterans presented a check on Dec. 3 to Christine A. Caratozzolo, supervisor of Recreation, and Scott Mueller, assistant CEO, of the New Jersey State Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park in Edison.

The money was collected by the veterans at the Rose of Sharon (poppy) drives. The money was used for holiday gift bags.

Chapter 148 extends an invitation to any veteran, regardless of branch of service, who served during the Korean War from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953, in any location, or any veteran who has served in Korea from 1953 to the present date.

The group meets at 10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month at the Monroe Township Municipal Building, 1 Municipal Plaza, Monroe. No meetings will take place January through April.

Yearly membership is $25 to the Korean War Veterans Association and $10 to the chapter.

The chapter is involved in various functions during the year, including parades with a Color Guard, flag raising and funerals.
