Edison Township Council reorganizes

EDISON –  At the start of the new year, the Edison Township Council has re-organized with new and old leadership.

Councilman Alvaro Gomez was nominated to serve as council president and Councilman Ajay Patil was nominated to serve as council vice president at a meeting on Jan. 7.

Gomez, who serves as chair of the council Finance Committee, said he looks forward to another great year for Edison and working with his fellow council members.

Patil, who served as council president last year, said he wishes the best of luck to Gomez as he passes the gavel of leadership and thanked his fellow council members in their support for council vice president.

“I urge [all my council colleagues] to continue our thoughtful dialogue we began last year,” he said. “It’s very important we continue to make real progress on a wide variety of issues including implementing major developments on township infrastructure, addressing deficiencies in the township services, providing accountability for taxpayers and evaluating spending.”

General elections were not held in November of 2018.
