At approximately 3:07 p.m. on Jan. 24, the Monroe Township Police Department was notified of an attempted luring that occurred on Tenth Avenue near Spotswood-Englishtown Road.
Two male children were walking on Tenth Avenue when a white van, described as possibly a “transport-style” van, with some sort of blue lettering, reportedly pulled next to the children, according to information provided by the Monroe Police Department.
The passenger of the van, a white male with a black baseball cap and a “big” beard, according to reports, reportedly rolled down the window and told the children to “get in,” according to the statement.
The children then ran for the location and notified a woman who was in the area.
The van then reportedly traveled down Tenth Avenue toward Monmouth Road.
Anyone who may have seen this or any suspicious van in the area around that time is asked to contact police at 732-521-0222.
Also on Jan. 24, the East Brunswick Police Department investigated a suspicious incident in which two juveniles reported that while walking in the rain after being dropped off by their school bus near Modzelewski Avenue around noon, an unidentified male in an older small blue car reportedly stopped and asked the two juveniles, “Do you want me to take you home?”
The juveniles ignored the male, who then drove away, according to reports.
They described the male as white, approximately 40 years old, heavy set, a smoker, with an orange/blonde beard, wearing a gray beanie type hat and a dark green jacket.
The area was checked with negative results, police said.
Police are conducting directed patrols of the area and the East Brunswick Police Department’s Investigative Bureau is investigating the incident.
