Brookdale to present an evening of Shel Silverstein

An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein reflects the playwright’s unique perspective and comic wit in a collection of short sketches entitled “One Tennis Shoe,” “Smile,” “The Best Daddy,” “Buy One, Get One Free,” “The Lifeboat is Sinking,” “Wash and Dry” and “Blind Willie and The Talking Dog”.

The six performances will take place at 8 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 15 and 22; at 8 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 16 and 23; and at 2 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 17 and 24 at the Performance Arts Center on Brookdale’s Lincroft campus, 765 Newman Springs Road.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for Brookdale students with valid ID. Tickets are $10 for seniors for Sunday performances.

Tickets are available at the box office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Individuals can also call the box office at 732-224-2411 to order tickets.

Cast members include current Brookdale students Alec Battaglia (Freehold); Arielle Giovengo (Holmdel); Ashur Green (Matawan); Andrew Hobbie (Tinton Falls); DeJana Luma (Asbury Park); Joseph O’Kane (Middletown) and Sasha Serebrennikou (Howell). Brookdale alumni in the cast include Sophia Parola (Manalapan) and Matthew E. Volpe (Freehold). John Bukovec is the director.
