FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – Two-year contracts for the furnishing and delivery of water and sewer chemicals have been awarded by the Township Committee in Freehold Township.
Committee members awarded contracts for the furnishing and delivery of water and sewer chemicals to Evoqua, Univar, Miracle Chemical, Reed and Perrine, George S. Coyne, Shannon Chemical Corporation, Main Pool and Chemical and Hibrett Puratex. Different chemicals were purchased from each contractor.
A contract was awarded to Reed and Perrine for lime ($140,272). Miracle Chemical was awarded a $122,355 contract for sodium hypochlorite and a $7,840 contract for potassium permanganate.
A $74,610 contract was awarded to Evoqua for odor and corrosion control (bioxide). A contract of $46,380 was awarded to Shannon Chemical Corporation, comprised of $42,270 for blended phosphate corrosion inhibitor and $3,660 for sodium hexametaphosphate.
Main Pool & Chemical received a $31,880 contract for hydroflusilicic acid and a $7,880 contract for sodium alumniate. A $31,700 contract was awarded to Univar for solar salt and a $36,260 contract was awarded to Hibrett Puratex for citrus floating degreaser. George S. Coyne was awarded a $1,207 contract for lime slurry treatment.
In total, $194,717 was awarded in water chemical contracts and $55,435 was awarded in sewer chemical contracts for a total cost of $250,152, according to the resolution. Because the contracts are for two years, the total cost will be $500,304.
In other business, committee members authorized a one-year contract not to exceed $40,000 with Control Sales Inc. for the purchase of instrumentation and control supplies for the township’s utilities department.
And, committee members authorized the award of emergency contracts totaling $11,257 to Albitron, LLC, and Seaboard Fire and Safety for work to clean, repair and restore a jail cell at the Freehold Township Police Department due to water damage from a vandalized sprinkler.
According to a resolution, the vandalism to the sprinkler caused flooding. Albitron was awarded $10,437 and Seaboard Fire and Safety was awarded $820 to immediately clean and make the necessary repairs at the jail cell.
