Metuchen, Woodbridge garden clubs to meet for discussion on edible landscapes

Terhune Orchards hosted its Read & Pick Program on July 24, where young children, ages preschool to eight years, are educated on fruits, vegetables, and plant life. The day is then highlighted with the children picking that crop then after. Melanie Zoltanski, 6 of Hamilton Square, and Sue Sumutka, of Robbinsville, search for the best flowers during the program.

The Garden Club of Metuchen and the Woodbridge Garden Club to present a program on “Edible Landscaping: the Best of Both Worlds” at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Fryer Hall, 27 Oak Ave., Metuchen.

David Daehnke, presenter, is editor and founder of the magazine “Organic Gardens Today.” His slide-based lecture will address how to incorporate food-bearing plants into existing landscapes, including which plants are best for each situation, rendering home gardens both beautiful and useful.

The meeting begins at 6:45 p.m. with light refreshments. The public is welcome.
