Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis are already committed to play boys’ basketball at elite Division 1 collegiate programs–Antoine at Villanova and Lewis at Florida.
Now, they have also received one of the highest honors for a high school boys’ basketball player–a selection to the McDonald’s All-American Game.
The final rosters for the 42nd annual game were revealed on Jan. 24 on two ESPN television programs, The Jump and SportsCenter. The Ranney School standouts were two of the 24 players picked for the prestigious event.
The game will take place on March 27 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. It will also air on ESPN2 at 7 p.m.
Antoine and Lewis were the first players in Ranney School history to be named McDonald’s All-Americans. They were just the second and third players in Shore Conference history to be selected for the all-star contest. Former Christian Brothers Academy star John Crotty was the first McDonald’s All-American from the Shore Conference. He was selected in 1987.
The McDonald’s All-American Game debuted in 1977 and has featured basketball legends like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
Antoine and Lewis have led the Ranney School to a 14-1 start to the season this winter. The seniors are combining for 45 points per game (Antoine 27.5, Lewis 17.5).
The duo led Ranney to the Shore Conference Tournament title last winter, beating Mater Dei Prep, 52-28. The Ranney School also reached the NJSIAA Non-Public B Tournament championship, losing to Roselle Catholic High School, 63-61.
