Raritan Bay Medical Center announces February events

The Institute of Weight Loss will hold “Is Weight Loss Surgery Right for Me?” from 7-8 p.m. on Feb. 11 and from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center, Suite 404, Medical Arts Building, 3 Hospital Plaza, Old Bridge.

The event will focus on weight loss surgery including discussion on Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass, Adjustable Gastric Banding and Gastric Sleeve and concerns surrounding weight loss surgery as well as its successes. The Human Motion Institute will hold a free Total Joint Replacement Education class from 8-9 a.m. on Feb. 12, from 8-9 a.m. on Feb. 19 and from 8-9 a.m. on Feb. 26 in Suite 101, Medical and Surgical Pavilion, 2 Hospital Plaza, Old Bridge. A thyroid disease education session will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Feb. 13 in Auxiliary Hall C, 3 Hospital Plaza, Old Bridge. Dr. Michael Sullivan will discuss the signs, symptoms and treatment options for thyroid disease. Registration required, call 1-800-560-9990.

 

“Are You Getting Enough Sleep” will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Feb. 13 at 3 Hospital Plaza, Old Bridge. Learn about sleep disorders and tips on how to get a better night’s sleep from the Medical Director of the Center for Sleep Medicine Dr. David Goldstein. Stroke support group meetings for stroke survivors, their families and caregivers will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 14 in Suite 101, 2 Hospital Plaza, Raritan Bay-Old Bridge. Attendees have an opportunity to connect with and learn from stroke experts as they provide guidance to help survivors and their families maximize their quality of life and navigate survivorship. Meetings will include new discussion topics each month, question-and-answer sessions with experts, and connections to available resources. Light refreshments will be served. “Cholesterol: Know Your Numbers” will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Feb. 19 in Auxiliary Hall C, 3 Hospital Plaza, Old Bridge. Learn the difference between good and bad cholesterol, risk factors, treatment options, and strategies for getting numbers under control to decrease risk for heart disease. “Be Your Best Self” will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Feb. 20 at the Joslin Diabetes Center, Suite 420, 2 Hospital Plaza, Old Bridge. Join a panel as they explore health issues affecting women today. The Institute of Weight Loss will hold a Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group Meeting from 6-7 p.m. on Feb. 27 in Auxiliary Hall B, 3 Hospital Plaza, Old Bridge, for individuals who have had surgery, are contemplating weight loss surgery or trying to maintain a healthy weight.
