South River Police to hold annual free throw tournament

The annual South River Police Department Basketball Free Throw Tournament will take place at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16 in the South River Middle School gymnasium, 3 Montgomery St., South River.

All South River children from kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate. High school students will participate in this year’s new 3-point tournament.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three winners in each of the six age groups as well as the overall champion (37 trophies total). Prizes will include a Playstation 4 and $100 gift card.

Refreshments will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting South River High School’s Project Graduation.

Waivers must be completed by the participant’s parent/guardian and submitted no later than Feb. 14. Waivers will be sent home with students. Additional waivers can be obtained at the main office of each school or at South River Police Headquarters located at 61 Main St. Waivers will also be available at the door from 9-9:30 a.m. for walk-in participants; however, a parent/guardian must be present to sign them.

All participants must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
