State hockey
The Princeton High ice hockey team was eliminated from the Public B state tournament with a 6-3 loss to Westfield in the quarterfinals on Monday. The sixth-seeded Little Tigers trailed the third-seeded Blue Devils, 4-0, after one period.
Princeton had opened the tournament with an 8-4 victory over 11th-seeded Jackson Memorial. Aidan Trainor scored three goals and collected two assists in the victory for the Little Tigers. Princeton finished the season with a 14-10-3 record.
State fencing
The Montgomery girls captured the epee squad title and the Montgomery boys won the foil title at the NJSIAA Squads Tournament, which was held at North Hunterdon last Sunday. In the girls’ epee, Julia Yoon won 18 of her 19 bouts to lead the Cougars. Meghana Paturu and Emma Ni each won 17 bouts. Montgomery finished with 52 points to edge Pingry, which finished with 48 points.
In the boys’ foil, the Cougars edged Ridge, 49-47, for the squad title. Charles Liu and Evan Wang each won 17 bouts, while Justin Cho won 15. Montgomery had finished fifth at last year’s squad championships but made the jump to first this season.
Princeton U basketball
The Princeton University men’s basketball team improved to 15-8 overall and 7-3 in the Ivy League with a weekend sweep of Cornell and Columbia last weekend at Jadwin Gym. Ryan Schweiger scored 20 points and Myles Stephens sank 15 to pace the offense in a 79-61 victory over Columbia. One night earlier, Schweiger scored 23 points and Jaelin Llewellyn recorded 15 in a 68-59 victory over Cornell. The Tigers are at Dartmouth on Friday and will play at Harvard on Saturday.
The Princeton women improved to 16-9 overall and 8-2 in the Ivy League with a 68-53 victory at Penn on Tuesday. Bella Alarie scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the victory. The Tigers also posted victories over Columbia and Cornell last weekend. Alarie scored 14 points in a 65-59 triumph over Columbia last Saturday. Gabrielle Rush scored 16 points in a 68-64 victory over Cornell one night earlier. The Tigers will be the host to Dartmouth Friday and Harvard on Saturday at Jadwin Gym.
Princeton U hockey
The Princeton University women’s ice hockey team concluded the regular season with a 18-6-5 overall record and a 15-4-3 mark in the ECAC after suffering losses at Clarkson and St. Lawrence last weekend. Carly Bullock and Maggie Connors scored goals in a 5-2 loss to Clarkson last Friday. The Tigers then dropped a 2-0 decision at St. Lawrence. Princeton will open the ECAC playoffs with a best-of-three series at home against St. Lawrence that begins Friday at Baker Rink.
The Princeton men are 8-16-3 overall and 6-12-2 in the ECAC after a victory and a tie last weekend at Baker Rink. The Tigers tied Clarkson, 1-1, last Friday with the Princeton goal coming from Jackson Cressey. Ryan Kuffner had two goals and an assist in a 5-3 victory over St. Lawrence the next night. Princeton will conclude the regular season this weekend with games at Yale on Friday and Brown on Saturday.

Prep B hoops
Bey-Shana Clark, Nia Melvin and Laila Fair were all named to the Prep B All-Tournament team after helping the Stuart Country Day School basketball team to its second straight Prep B state championship. Brooke Smukler of Princeton Day School was also named to the All-Tournament team.
In Prep B boys’ basketball, David Coit of Princeton Day School was named to the All-Tournament team. The top-seeded Panthers were eliminated in the semifinals with a 66-63 loss to Pennington.
