David R. Lapsley, a tenant in the home, died during the fire on March 1. The fire broke out at about 2:15 p.m. inside the ranch-style house, near the corner of Livingston Avenue, according to Deputy Fire Chief Andy Toth.

The fire concentrated near the back of the house. It was brought under control within 30 minutes, Toth said. The fire’s cause remains under investigation by Edison’s fire marshals, township police detectives, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
