St. Patrick’s parade returns to Freehold

FREEHOLD – DowntownFreehold.com’s Irish Week will culminate with the Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) St. Patrick’s Parade on March 17.

The parade will begin at noon at West Main and McLean streets. The marchers will proceed down West Main Street to East Main Street. The parade will end at Freehold Elks Lodge 1454 at Elks Point.

The parade is presented with the support of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 16, the Freehold Elks and the Freehold Columbian Club. The grand marshal will be Tim McLoone.

The parade will be followed by two parties, one at Freehold Elks Lodge 1454 with the Eddie Testa Band and a second one at the Columbian Club.

The FBAC will sponsor the following contests: Best Dressed Baby (under 2), Best Dressed Person, Best Dressed Dog, Best Decorated Bicycle and Best Irish Soda Bread. For additional information on how to enter the Irish Soda Bread contest or to march in the parade, email dru@downtownfreehold.com

On March 14 from 8-11 p.m., the Downtown Freehold Pub Crawl will welcome guests to imbibe smooth Scotch or crisp beers at four locations. The Beer Crawl is $20 and the Scotch Crawl is $40; tickets can be purchased at the office of Downtown Freehold.

On the evening of March 15, visitors to Downtown Freehold will delight in holiday specials and the sounds of bagpipers. The bagpipers will be in town from 7-9 p.m.
