• Monmouth County will host a spring job fair on April 12 at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft. The event is free to employers and job seekers. There is no cost for employers to reserve a table.

• 180 Turning Lives Around, a private nonprofit organization in Monmouth County, will be conducting a 40-hour training course for new Domestic Violence Response Team
victim advocates from April 29 through May 23 at Hazlet Police Headquarters. DVRT advocates work with law enforcement to provide support, information and resources to victims of domestic violence. • A meeting of the Monmouth County Retired Educators Association will be held at 11 a.m. April 9 at the Knob Hill Golf Club, 1 Shinnecock Drive, Manalapan. A Medicare update will be presented. • All residents of Howell are invited to the Howell Library at 6:30 p.m. March 28 for a presentation by local historian Leigh Shaffer about the MacKenzie house. Shaffer will highlight two families that were prominent in the daily life of Howell and share information about the 1805 miller’s house and the 1855 formal addition. The free event is sponsored by the Howell Library and the Heritage Group of Howell. Light refreshments will be served.

•  The American Red Cross has a severe shortage of type O blood and is asking type O donors, as well as eligible blood and platelet donors of all blood types, to give now. The following blood drive will be held in Jackson: March 28, 3-8 p.m., St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 679 West Veterans Highway. Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment.

• Quality Insights is offering a free diabetes self-management workshop series at the Howell Senior Center, 251 Preventorium Road, Howell, Thursdays from March 14 through April 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet others going through similar experiences and learn about diabetes and its risks, preventing complications, healthy eating and more. The workshop is open to members of the senior center. • The Jackson Library will host “Knit-Chat-Chain Volunteers” on Mondays. Guests are welcome to join fellow hook and needle enthusiasts and create items to donate to charitable organizations, and to work on their own projects. • The Homebound and Volunteer Services Department of the Ocean County Library is collecting toiletries for foster children. Donations of toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, hand sanitizer (small size), soap, shampoo, conditioner, combs, brushes, socks and feminine products will be accepted at the Jackson Branch, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson, during February. • The Jewish Home for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Freehold Township, a new skilled rehabilitation and nursing facility serving the Jewish community, is hosting a free monthly support group called The Jewish Caregiver’s Experience. The group meets at 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month. Caregivers of all ages seeking support, resources and a Jewish perspective on managing their responsibilities are welcome to attend.
