East Brunswick Elks receive grants to continue community programs

EAST BRUNSWICK – East Brunswick Lodge 2370 was the recipient of three Elks National Foundation grants.
The Beacon Grant was awarded because Elks members fed approximately 25 needy families in the community for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter with food baskets.
The Gratitude Grant was awarded because the Elks sent six high school students to the Peer Leadership Conference in February, sponsored by the Drug Awareness Committee. The students listened to speakers address the issues of bullying, peer pressure, and the dangers of alcohol and drugs.
The Promise Grant was awarded for the Halloween for All event held the past three years. Through funding from the grant, Elks members advertise via a special needs group that meets on Tuesday nights, supply food and prizes, and offer face painting, trunk-or-treat and dance contests. In 2018, more than 200 people attended.
