JAMESBURG–The Land Use Board approved a resolution that includes changes made to QuickChek’s original site plan for a gas station and convenience store on the corner of Gatzmer Avenue and Forsgate Drive.
Mayor Marlene Lowande said QuickChek changed the façade of the building and needed the board’s approval to move forward. Approval was granted on March 14.
In January 2016, the board approved a resolution granting a use variance with preliminary and final major site plan approval with design waivers, variances for fence location and height, sign sizes, and a number of facade signs to build a gasoline service station and a convenience store, according to the council agenda.
“QuickChek has purchased this property and proposed this plan,” Lowande said.
The existing improvements to the property will be to completely demolish and replace with a new building, a new canopy with gasoline pumps, replacement of all access driveways and handicapped ramps, installation of new underground tanks, an enclosed refuse area, and complete repaving and striping of on-site drive aisles and parking areas, according to the council agenda.
Currently, the property where the QuickChek and gas station will go is a vacant lot, according to Lowande. The property consists of 1.79 acres and is located in the Central Business Zone District within the borough, according to the council agenda.
“The board has been told that construction will begin sometime this year. No date was given at the meeting in January,” Lowande said.
