MARLBORO – Democrat Jonathan Hornik, who is serving the final year of his third four-year term as Marlboro’s mayor, will seek a fourth term in the Nov. 5 election.
Hornik will face a challenge from Republican Derek DeLuca, who made his first bid for public office in Marlboro when he ran for a seat on the Township Council in 2017.
Candidates running for office with a political party affiliation had to file a nominating petition by April 1.
Two seats on the Marlboro Township Council will also be on the ballot on Election Day. Democratic incumbents Randi Marder and Michael Scalea will seek re-election to four-year terms.
Marder has served on the council since 2008 and Scalea has served on the council since 2015.
Republicans Marielaina LaRosa and Marianne Longobardi have filed to run for the council seats. LaRosa ran for a council seat in 2013 and Longobardi ran for a council seat in 2011.
A resident who wants to run for elected office as an independent candidate has until June 4 to file a nominating petition and secure a spot on the Nov. 5 ballot.
