A team of seventh graders from Herbert Hoover Middle School in Edison won the School Spirit Award during the 2019 UnitedHealthcare Health Bee on April 11, earning the school funding for its health and wellness programs. In partnership with the Metuchen YMCA, the UnitedHealthcare Health Bee was hosted as part of a statewide initiative to fight childhood obesity and physical inactivity. Students from four area middle schools participated in the quiz show-style competition designed to get students excited about health, fitness and nutrition. A team of seventh graders from Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Edison were awarded first place during the 2019 UnitedHealthcare Health Bee competition in Edison on April 11. Paul Marden, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of New Jersey, presented the team with a $1,000 grand prize to help fund the school’s health and wellness programs. Edgar Middle School in Metuchen earned second place and a $500 prize. Herbert Hoover Middle School in Edison took home the school spirit award and a $250 prize.
