Raider Robotix completes 2019 FIRST competition season

NORTH BRUNSWICK – Raider Robotix FRC Team 25 completed its 2019 competition season with a match in the quarterfinals of the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District Championship.

Team 25 was eliminated with its alliance partners R.O.B.B.E. FRC Team 56 from Bound Brook and The Pascack Pi-oneers FRC Team 1676 from Montvale during the event held by For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) on April 6 at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, according to information provided by the team.

In the competition, 60 FRC robotics teams played the FIRST space-themed game, FIRST Destination: Deep Space SM.

During other events in the 2019 robotics season, Team 25 first competed at the FIRST MidAtlantic District event at Mount Olive High School March 9-10, and as the fourth-seeded team, Team 25 joined with the third-seeded team Nemesis FRC Team 2590 from Robbinsville and Team Mercury FRC Team 1089 from Hightstown to form Alliance 3. Alliance 3 was defeated in semifinal round, according to the statement.

Next, Team 25 competed at the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District event at Montgomery High School April 29-30 and was selected by Alliance 4 captain Mechanical Mustangs FRC Team 3314 from Clifton to form Alliance 4 along with Cold Fusion FRC Team 1279 from Somerville. Alliance 4 was defeated in the semifinals, according to the statement.

Team 25 earned the Gracious Professionalism award at this event.

Bristol-Myers Squibb, Harris Corporation, Picatinny Arsenal, Neil Parikh, the North Brunswick School District, Raider Robotix Parent and Mentors Association, CimaNetwork, Cimquest and Formlabs have sponsored and supported the team this season.

The next scheduled competition event for Team 25 is the country’s largest single-day off-season robotics event, Brunswick Eruption, that will be held by Raider Robotix on Nov. 9 at North Brunswick Township High School. All FIRST events are free and open to the viewing public.
