Reynolds, Wojyn, Marter to seek re-election in Englishtown

ENGLISHTOWN – The mayor and two incumbent members of the Borough Council in Englishtown are seeking new terms this year.

According to the municipal clerk’s office, Republican councilmen Dan Marter and Gregory Wojyn have filed nominating petitions to run for office to retain their seats on the governing body.

For the mayor’s office, Republican Mayor Thomas Reynolds is seeking re-election to continue to serve as the municipality’s top elected official.

Under Englishtown’s form of government, members of the Borough Council serve a three-year term and the mayor serves a four-year term.

The new council terms will run from Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2022, and the new mayoral term will run from Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2023.

No Democrat filed a nominating petition to run for office.

An individual who wants to run as an independent candidate has until June 4 to file a nominating petition and secure a place on the Nov. 5 ballot.

During the June 4 primary, a candidate may be nominated by write-in votes to run in the general election with a political party affiliation.

Reynolds has been Englishtown’s mayor since 2000 and is serving his fifth term.

Marter has been a member of the council since 2017. Wojyn has been a member of the council since 2011. He is serving his third term.

In 2016, the last time Marter and Wojyn ran for office, they were unopposed in the general election. Reynolds was unopposed in the general election when he last ran for office in 2015.

All of the members of Englishtown’s municipal government are Republicans. Marter and Wojyn are joined on the Borough Council by Lori Cooke, Maryanne Krawiec, Eric Mann and Cecilia Robilotti.
