The Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce held a breakfast celebration for the two businesses selected for this year’s Plainsboro Business of the Year Awards.
On April 16, representatives were in attendance from the Crown Plaza Princeton – Conference Center and the regional fragrance manufacturer, Firmenich, to receive their awards at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Princeton.
“This year we have two really good companies who have helped Plainsboro grow either in short period of time or a long period of time. Both are nationally known, and one is quietly internationally known,” said Peter Crowley, President and CEO of the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber.
He said they have both been valuable to the chamber, but also the Plainsboro community.
The Crown Plaza Princeton – Conference Center is a hotel that offers 54 meeting rooms, according to officials.
Firmenich is a privately owned fragrance and flavor company that has had a regional manufacturing facility in Plainsboro for 70 years, officials said.
“I am humbled and honored to be receiving this award on behalf of the Crown Plaza Princeton – Conference Center. I want to thank the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber for recognizing us for this award,” said Richard Sanchez, general manager of the Crown Plaza Princeton – Conference Center.
“Thank you Mr. Mayor and the Princeton Regional Chamber. I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of Firmenich. I convey our deepest appreciation for the strong support from Mayor Cantu and his team and the long standing collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce,” said John Burke, Commercial Operations Manager at Firmenich.
Prior to the awards, Plainsboro Township Mayor Peter Cantu delivered his mayoral address to those in attendance.
He highlighted that this is the township’s centennial year.
“This community is a great one to raise a family. This would not be possible without strong support from the business community,” Cantu said.
He also discussed with chamber members the township’s AAA bond rating, $7.4 billion in ratables and the township’s commitment to open space.
Crowley said this was the ninth time they have done a breakfast mayoral address with Cantu.
