Center Players to present ‘Dial M for Murder’

FREEHOLD – Center Players Dessert Theater will present its next Signature Series production, “Dial M for Murder,” written by Frederick Knott, from May 17 through June 16 at Center Playhouse, 35 South St., Freehold Borough.

Directed by veteran local director Dave McGrath, the play centers around a retired tennis professional who plots the murder of his wife. When she turns the tables on her attempted assailant, she is convicted of murder, according to a press release.

The police detective who brought her to trial must then decipher the clues that will save her life. The play that inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s classic suspense film weaves an
ever-tightening web of danger and deception.

The cast of “Dial M for Murder” features local actors June Ribas, Vince Fay, Joe Zedeny, Kevin Gable, Bob Gaydos and Blake Taylor.

Performances run Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There will be no performances Memorial Day weekend. Tickets are priced at $25 to $27 and are available online at www.centerplayers.org or by calling 732-462-9093.

“I am very proud and honored to direct this marvelous tale of intrigue and murder,” McGrath said. “All its twists and turns are so well presented by a wonderfully talented cast. I’m sure audiences will truly enjoy every minute.”

Rounding out Center Players’ season will be Josefina López’s “Real Women Have Curves,” running July 26 through Aug. 18. Directed by Bernice Garfield-Szita, the play is set in a tiny sewing factory in East Los Angeles in 1987 and explores the issues of gender politics and the Latina immigrant experience.
