Look for turtles, egrets, herons, ospreys and other wildlife in their natural habitat during a boat tour of the Monmouth County Park System’s Manasquan Reservoir. Led by a park system naturalist, these 45-minute tours leave from the Visitor Center, Windeler Road, Howell. Tours are offered at the top of the hour from 2-5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, May 4 through Sept. 2. Wednesday afternoon tours are offered at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. from July 3 through Aug. 28. Evening tours are offered on the first Friday of each month June through August; call 732-751-9453 as times vary for the evening tours. All tours are weather and water level dependent. The fee is $6 per adult and $4 per child age 12 and under. Life jackets are required and provided. Tickets are available in the lower level of the Visitor Center. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Center for Holocaust, Human Rights and
Genocide Education (Chhange), Lincroft, will feature the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of “BlacKkKlansman,” Charlie Wachtel, and his mother, author Shirley Wachtel, a descendant of Holocaust survivors, at the home of George and Vita Kolber in Middletown. Since 1979, Chhange has been dedicated to its mission to educate people about the Holocaust, genocide and human rights issues, and to promote the elimination of racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of prejudice. Each year, Chhange connects with more than 25,000 students, educators and community members, according to a press release. The event, Starry Night, will take place at 7 p.m. June 1.
