Visitors touring the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Mass., campus recently were treated to Project Presentation Day, an annual event during which seniors present their Major Qualifying Projects to the community. Tessa Garbely of Freehold, majoring in computer science, was part of a group to work on an all-encompassing data aggregator called HerdHealth that will allow WPI community members to store their health data – from step counts and calorie totals to hours of sleep – in one place regardless of apps or devices used.

Jessica Ruderman of Morganville was recently inducted into the Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn., chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society.

Nagapradeep Sanikommu of Morganville has graduated with a Master of Science in information technology management from Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, Ky.

Ashley Hobbs of Freehold has earned a degree in speech language pathology from Misericordia University, Dallas, Pa.

The following area residents were honored during a recent reception at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn. – Austin Fainsod of Manalapan, a member of the class of 2019, received the Dorchester prize, awarded for the best thesis submitted to the English Department. Austin is majoring in English and philosophy and formerly attended Manalapan High School; and Catherine Kiall of Freehold, a member of the class of 2019, received the Sherman Prize – Classical Studies, established by David Sherman, D.D., Class of 1872, for excellence in Classics. Catherine is majoring in Classics and English and formerly attended The Peddie School, Hightstown.

Julianna Mindlin of Morganville, a student at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa., studied in Denmark during the fall of 2018. Julianna is a member of the class of 2020. Muhlenberg administrators encourage students in all disciplines to study overseas at institutions in Europe, Australia, Asia, Latin America and Africa.

Wagner College, Staten Island, N.Y., held its annual senior awards banquet on May 9. Angela M. Zagami of Freehold won the Ellen Horrman Award for academic excellence in the study of nursing during the clinical experience. Angela also won the Michele Connors Tellefsen ’71 Alpha Delta Pi Leadership Award, given to a dedicated leader in the Gamma Pi chapter of Alpha Delta Pi as she transitions from being an active member to an alumna member.

Grace Jackey of Colts Neck, a junior communication major at Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C., was named to the spring 2019 dean’s list.

Emerson College, Boston, Mass., awarded degrees to the following area residents: Christopher Mallamaci of Manalapan graduated with a BA degree in media arts production and Michael Simon of Marlboro graduated with a BS degree in political communication.

The following students earned dean’s list recognition at Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn., for the spring 2019 semester: Joseph Preziosi of Marlboro and Taylor Rice of Freehold.

Frank D’Alessio of Morganville is a member of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Mass., baseball team that won the 2019 NEWMAC West Division title. The Engineers have won the division four of the last five seasons under head coach Mike Callahan.

Emerson College, Boston, Mass., has named the following students to the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester: Michael DePalma of Morganville, Class of 2020; Danielle Finelli of Colts Neck, Class of 2019; Samantha Golub of Marlboro, Class of 2020; Gabriela Portugal of Marlboro, Class of 2021; Michael Simon of Marlboro, Class of 2019; and Alexandra Thompson of Freehold, Class of 2021.

Misericordia University, Dallas, Pa., has named the following students to the dean’s list for
the 2019 spring semester: Daphne Lombardi of Freehold and Kristen Pilchik of Freehold.

Skylar Demartinis of Marlboro earned a Bachelor of Arts in intelligence and national security studies at Coastal Carolina University, Conway, S.C.

Samantha Drake of Marlboro has graduated Summa Cum Laude from the School of Business at Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn. Samantha was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, Order of Omega, Pi Beta Phi Pearl Society and was vice president of finance on the Panhellenic Executive Council. Samantha is a graduate of Marlboro High School. She is currently working as an eCommerce Marketing Associate at Happy Family Organics, a division of Danone North America, in New York City.

Samantha R. Brown of Morganville, the daughter of Lori and Elliott Brown, has graduated magna cum laude from Stockton University, Galloway, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication. Samantha majored in advertising and public relations, with a minor in writing. She is a 2015 graduate of the FPAC program at Howell High School.
