Spotswood student received scholarship from New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association

SPOTSWOOD – The New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA) selected Justin Acheampong of Spotswood as one of 25 graduating seniors in New Jersey who will be awarded a 2018-19 Student Leadership Scholarship.

Each scholarship carries a $2,000 award for the recipient’s demonstrated leadership in school activities for participation in co-curricular activities other than athletics. Winners are selected from each of the three regions of the state – north, central and south.

A senior at Spotswood High School, Justin serves as a group leader in the Heroes and Cool Kids program, educating students in the district about sportsmanship, peer pressure and kindness, according to information provided by NJPSA.

He is also student representative to the Board of Education, where he organized the effort to show support for the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, by creating a large banner of sympathy, which all students signed, as well as a large card on which the students wrote personal messages, according to the statement.

A luncheon was held at NJPSA on June 5 to honor the scholarship recipients.
