Porsha Aekins of the Keasbey section of Woodbridge received the Academic Excellence Award from the Rutgers University Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Treatment Program this spring for having the highest grade point average, achieving a 4.0 in the Psychosocial Rehabilitation program at Rutgers-School of Health Professions. The Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Treatment Program is a partnership between Rutgers and nine community colleges; Aekins attends Middlesex County College. The students complete their general education courses at their community college and then apply to the Rutgers School of Health Professions for the professional phase of the program. They then complete 30 credits and receive their Associate Degree from both schools. Pictured is Aekins with Peter M. Basto, program director.
