The Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee, Recreation Commission and Unity Coalition of Greater Freehold are hosting CommUNITY Walk 2019 on June 29.

CommUNITY Walk will begin at 2:30 p.m with registration at Borough Hall, 51 W. Main St., and lead to a celebration of free music, games and food at the Court Street School Education Community Center.

Freehold Borough and Freehold Township residents are invited to join with their neighbors for a community celebration, according to a press release.

The event is designed to celebrate the community’s diversity, interweaving a patchwork of ethnic and cultural differences, “Walking as 1” while recognizing each individual’s unique heritage, according to the press release.

For a $5 donation, participants will receive a drawstring bag with a “Walking as 1” event logo. All donations will be dedicated to the Freehold First Aid Squad, which has been serving the community since 1941, according to the press release.

Visit fb.me/CommUNITYWalk 2019 on Facebook for event updates. The sponsors of the event are the Neighborhood Connections to Health, Route 33, Freehold Borough; Freehold Borough PBA; MTN Organization Inc.,  Jackson; Stop & Shop, Freehold Township; and SAM’s Club, Freehold Township.

Freehold Borough will host the annual Independence Day concert and fireworks celebration, presented by Downtown Freehold and Freehold Borough, on July 3 at Freehold Raceway.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and there will be live music by the Rock ‘N Roll Chorus at 6:30 p.m., followed by Daddy Pop from 7-9:15 p.m. Freehold native Kason Jackson will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” immediately followed by the fireworks, according to a press release.

As part of Freehold Borough’s Centennial celebration, free inflatable games and entertainment will be provided. WJRZ-FM and WRAT-FM will be on hand to provide patriotic music during the fireworks. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

No backpacks, coolers or pets will be permitted inside the venue, and bags are subject to search. Visit www.freeholdboroughnj.gov for up-to-the-minute information on cancellations due to inclement weather or high wind conditions. Rain date is July 7.

The fireworks are made possible by Freehold Borough, Downtown Freehold, Freehold Raceway Mall and the generous support of sponsors, including Freehold Raceway, which continues to host the event each year and make the celebration possible, according to the press release.
