Hillsborough encourages residents to partake in holiday festival this month

The Hillsborough Township is encouraging residents to participate this year’s Independence Day festivities.

Municipal officials said that the event scheduled on June 29 will include a music festival and fireworks display. The rain date is June 30.

Festivities are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Auten Road Intermediate School, which is located at 281 Auten Road.

Officials said that shuttle bus services will be available at the Hillsborough High School parking lot that is located at 466 Raider Boulevard, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

A celebration of the arts to save lives and promote mental health will be held as well.

“We are pleased to announce the combination of the Fireworks Celebration with the Hillsborough Music Fest this year,” Hillsborough Township Mayor Frank DelCore said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing you all there.”

Officials said that this year’s celebration will include: Fireworks; a food tent; free inflatable amusements available from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.; a free dunk tank; pay-to-play boardwalk games; a DJ and live performances for musical entertainment from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

“This is an important collaborative community event to benefit both BOROSAFE and the Jonah Johnson Youth Scholarship Fund,” Mayor DelCore explained.

The HMF will also feature outstanding and diverse local bands, solo artists, food, vendors, and youth activities. Since 2010 the festival has raised funds for youth suicide prevention through outreach, education, and mental health awareness programs.

Local businesses, sponsors, and community members who want to join this festival to add their time and resources to support this day.

The food tent will include refreshments such as pizza, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, kettle corn and more.

Adults and kids interested in becoming an HMF volunteer have the opportunity to gain experience and service hours. There are ample opportunities to get involved, both before the festival and on the day of the event. Sign up using the online form and the organization will connect participants with the tasks that suit an individual’s skills and schedule.
