Millstone officials authorize purchase of vehicles for public works department

MILLSTONE – A bond ordinance appropriating $250,000 for the acquisition of vehicles for the Millstone Township Department of Public Works (DPW) has been adopted by the Township Committee.

On June 5, committee members adopted the bond ordinance for the purchase of the vehicles. The ordinance authorizes the issuance of $237,500 in bonds or notes to finance part of the appropriation. The remaining costs are covered by a down payment of $12,500.

According to the ordinance, the equipment to be purchased includes, but is not limited to, a snow removal truck, a pick-up truck and a zero turn mower.

In other business, committee members appointed Matthew Pressey as the electrical sub-code official/electrical inspector. Pressey will receive an hourly rate of $40 and is not to exceed 12 hours per week, according to a resolution.

The committee also authorized the renewal of alcoholic beverage licenses for 2019-20 for Millstone Elks, B.P.O.E. ($125 fee); Vesuvio’s Family Restaurant, LLC, ($2,500 fee); and KMK Realty Associates, LLC ($2,500 fee). Each license covers the period from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.

On June 19, the committee authorized the renewal of alcoholic beverage licenses for 2019-20 for Indus Holdings Inc. (Buy Rite Liquors) and Domal Restaurant Corp. (Tommy’s Inn at Millstone). Each license covers the period from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

Finally, committee members adopted an ordinance amending the administrative fee for the removal of impounded dogs and other animals. The amendment to the ordinance increases the fee from $25 to $50.

The amended ordinance also allows an individual to pay the $50 fee at the kennel or within 10 days of the return. If the fee is not paid for in 10 days, the animal control officer will issue a summons for failure to pay the fee, according to the ordinance.
