SAYREVILLE – An elementary supervisor in the Sayreville School District has been selected to lead one of the district’s elementary schools.
On June 25, the Board of Education approved the employment of Amy Stueber as principal of the Harry S. Truman Elementary School. Her position will become effective on Sept. 1 and run through June 30, 2020, after which she may be reappointed by the board.
She will receive a $130,015 salary ($127,015 base salary, $3,000 longevity) for the 2019-20 school year, according to district administrators.
Prior to being named Truman principal, Stueber served as the supervisor of elementary education and supervisor of gifted and talented in the district.
“You [the board] all know Mrs. Stueber,” Superintendent of Schools Richard Labbe said. “She has been in this district for many years and I have to tell you, I’ve always been impressed by Mrs. Stueber. But having had the opportunity to sit in on two particular interviews and having had the opportunity to read up on a special project that I asked her to do as part of her interview process, I am even more impressed by her proficiency, her competency and, more importantly, her leadership skills.
“I know that she is going to be an outstanding building principal,” he continued. “And I know that she’s going to promote nothing but the best outcomes possible for the children at the Truman Elementary School. So it is with great pride, that I ask you to appoint her as the next principal at the Truman Elementary School.”
Stueber will succeed Timothy Byrne, who was transferred from Truman to become the principal of the Woodrow Wilson Elementary School on June 11. Byrne’s transfer follows the retirement of Carmen Davis as Wilson principal.
Davis’ retirement and Byrne’s transfer will both be effective on Sept. 1, alongside the effective appointment of Stueber as principal of Truman.
