A local nonprofit organization is asking members of the community to help support veterans upon their return home from active duty.

On Aug. 25, American Legion Post 493, Little Egg Harbor Township, will host an event to support Ma Deuce Deuce (MA22), a nonprofit organization, and to raise funds that will be used to help reverse a trend of veterans committing suicide.

A motorcycle Dice Run will begin at Mickey’s Port of Call Pub, Main Street, Tuckerton, at 9:30 a.m., with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. Cars and trucks are also welcome to participate.

Event day registration is $25 for the rider and $15 for a passenger. There is a $5 discount per rider and passenger if pre-registered prior to Aug. 1. The Dice Run fee includes entry to a music festival and BBQ later that afternoon.

Email Rolling2Zero@comcast.net for more information about the Dice Run.

The music festival and BBQ will start at 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 493, 420 Radio Road, Little Egg Harbor Township. The cost for those who do not participate in the Dice Run will be $20 at the door.

Sherri Korker, the event organizer, founded MA22.

“Money goes to Ma Deuce Deuce, a local nonprofit whose mission is to raise awareness of the 22 daily veteran suicides epidemic, as well as to provide veterans who have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with restorative and therapeutic programs at no cost to the veteran,” Korker said.

Veterans who are in crisis may call the crisis line at 800-273-8255.
