YingHua International School concluded its first commencement exercises in school history under the leadership of its first head of school in school history.
Seven students at the Kingston school completed the graduation requirements for the dual language Chinese-English immersion and International Baccalaureate curriculum program.
Graduates will attend public and private schools including West Windsor-Plainsboro School District, South Brunswick School District, Rutgers Preparatory School, and YK Pao International School in Shanghai, China, to continue their educational careers.
Graduates addressed the audience with graduation speeches in Mandarin and then English.
The keynote speaker was Connie Mercer, founder of Mercer County’s HomeFront organization, a non-profit focused on providing shelter for homeless families in the region. Mercer reminded students to always be kind and share their time and talent with others and reiterated the importance of kindness and generosity. She was then honored with a plaque for her service to the greater Mercer County community.
YungHua built a partnership with HomeFront over the course of the past school year and eighth grade students visited the students at HomeFront. Board members and former school directors were honored during the ceremonies to thank them for their service to the school: Parker Block, Natalie Yea, Kristin Epstein and Joy Zhao.
