Bayville resident charged with committing burglaries in Jackson

JACKSON – A 23-year-old male resident of Bayville has been charged with five counts of burglary following an investigation by the Jackson Police Department.

According to police, at 4:35 p.m. July 5, officers Anthony Riso and Ryan Gladysz responded to Meridian Health Village, 27 South Cooks Bridge Road, to investigate a report that a suspect wanted in connection with burglaries to lockers at Tilton Fitness, in the Meridian Health Village, was at the location.

Police said the suspect was identified and initially placed under arrest upon being charged with driving with a suspended license. The man was transported to police headquarters.

As Detective Robert Reiff became involved and the investigation progressed, a search of the 2011 Hyundai the suspect had been driving was conducted and multiple individually packaged bags of a substance believed to be marijuana were recovered from the vehicle, according to police.

Detectives eventually were able to link the suspect to locker burglaries that had been committed at Tilton Fitness and to a burglary which occurred at a Bennetts Mills Road residence on June 13.

Detectives went to the suspect’s residence in Bayville and recovered proceeds from the burglaries, according to police.

Police said the 23-year-old man was charged with five counts of burglary and theft, plus possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance while operating a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. He was processed and later lodged in the Ocean County Jail, Toms River.
