FREEHOLD – A $97,900 agreement has been authorized by the Borough Council for engineering services related to two Freehold Borough roads and a parking lot.
During a recent meeting, council members approved an agreement with Abbington Engineering, Jackson, for 2019. Engineering services will involve West Main and Parker streets, and the Fourth Street parking lot, according to a resolution.
Abbington Engineering will provide surveying, mapping and design services, prepare plans and specifications, and provide construction administration and inspection for the planned improvements at those locations.
In other business, the council authorized a professional services agreement with DMR Architects, Hasbrouck Heights, for 2019. According to a resolution, the firm will be paid $19,800.
DMR Architects is being engaged to help pursue grant funding from the state so Freehold Borough officials may undertake Americans with Disabilities Act improvements and other improvements, according to a resolution.
Council members also authorized the submission of a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation Trust Fund Authority Act. Improvements to Stokes Street and Frances Drive are included in the request for Fiscal Year 2020 funding, according to a resolution.
And, council members renewed Freehold Borough’s alcoholic beverage licenses for July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.
Plenary retail distribution licenses were renewed for Gusaiji Inc. (Freehold Liquor & Convenience Store) and Maha Prabhuji Inc. (Freehold Spirit Shoppe).
Plenary retail consumption licenses were renewed for J&G Innkeepers Inc. (Olde Court Jester); Frank Federici & Sons Inc.; FR Park Food Service Inc.; Table 33, LLC (618); and KMK Hospitality Inc. (Metropolitan Cafe).
Plenary retail consumption licenses with broad package privilege were renewed for Norkash, LLC (Max’s Beer, Wine & Liquor); and Borough Tavern LLC.
Club licenses were renewed for B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1454; American Legion Monmouth Post No. 54; Columbian Club; and Walter J. Conley Elks Lodge No. 1379.
In other business, council members memorialized Mayor Nolan Higgins’ appointment of Michael Wildermuth as an alternate member of the Planning Board through Dec. 31.
Finally, council members confirmed the retirement of Salvador DeJesus, superintendent of the Streets and Roads Department, effective Sept. 1; the transfer of Patrick Quirk from the Freehold Borough Police Department to the Keyport Police Department; and the appointment of Robert Flanagan as a records support technician in the Freehold Borough Police Department.
