NBTHS students awarded by North Brunswick Woman’s Club for creative writing entries

NORTH BRUNSWICK – The New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) recently held a Creative Writing Contest for members, as well as the youth in community schools. 

The North Brunswick Woman’s Club (NBWC), under the direction of the Performing Arts Chairperson Susan Kneller, participated in this contest.

Submissions were sent in from the various clubs throughout the state. The categories were poetry, haiku, short story and book review. Winners were announced at the NJSFWC 125th Annual Convention in Atlantic City May 6-8.

Students from Nimishi Patel’s Creative Writing class at North Brunswick Township High School submitted short stories for the contest. The winners were: First Place Olivia Baldwin, Second Place Trinity Solano, Third Place Naomi Silva-Valencia and Honorable Mention Kayla Harris.

The NBWC also acknowledged Seairah Chiles and Stephanie Miranda for their participation.

In addition, the president of the NBWC, Joyce Dreger, took second place in the Creative Writing Contest for Members in the Poetry category.
