Hillsborough schools welcomes new employee

Hillsborough Township Public Schools announced the selection of Christopher Ireland as the new Supervisor of Visual/Performing Arts and Related Areas for the school district.

Ireland was approved by the Hillsborough Board of Education at the July 22 meeting and will begin his new position with the district in September.

Ireland, who began his professional teaching career in Plainfield, graduated Cum Laude from Ithaca College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education. Additionally, he holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey.

Since 2006, Ireland has enjoyed a long tenure with the Bridgewater Public Schools, where he taught instrumental music at Hillside Intermediate School.

In addition to his job in the classroom, Ireland has been collaboratively assisting with various district initiatives and serving on committees including the district safety committee, curriculum writing team, crisis team and countless others.

In addition to his work in education, Ireland has served as EMT Program Director for RWJ Barnabas Health, served Bridgewater in the capacity of Fire Commissioner, and worked as Chief of the Bradley Gardens Rescue Squad and earned various distinctions and accolades through his dynamic efforts.

Hillsborough Township Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Lisa Antunes noted that “Mr. Ireland’s energetic passion and knowledge of arts education as well as his eclectic well rounded experiences will serve him well as he leads the related arts departments.”
