Hopewell Township garage fire put out

A garage at the rear of a house on the Hopewell-Rocky Hill Road was damaged by fire shortly before noon on July 30, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

The homeowner reported a fire to a detached garage on the property at 11:43 a.m., and when police officers arrived, they observed a fire in the garage.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters from the Hopewell Fire Co., the Union Fire Department, the Pennington Fire Co., Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Cos. No. 1 and No. 2, and the West Trenton Fire Co.

The Hopewell First Aid Squad and the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad also responded.

The garage suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, but it does not appear to be suspicious, police said.
