JACKSON – Township Council members have introduced a bond ordinance that will, if adopted, fund capital improvements in Jackson.
Council members introduced the ordinance on July 23. A public hearing will be held on Aug. 13. Residents may ask questions about the ordinance that evening and council members may adopt the legislation following the public hearing.
The proposed ordinance appropriates $3.2 million and authorizes the issuance of $2.37 million in bonds and notes to finance capital improves and the acquisition of capital equipment. Officials would make a $124,998 down payment and reappropriate $717,853 in excess proceeds from previous bond ordinances.
The improvements authorized by the ordinance would consist of road, drainage and sidewalk improvements; irrigation improvements at town hall; and the acquisition of a rolling bin for the Building Department.
The ordinance would also authorize the purchase and outfitting of five new police vehicles; the acquisition of police equipment; and records retention for various departments.
The ordinance would authorize acquisitions for the Building Department, including a trailer and the purchase and outfitting of four new vehicles. Improvements to public buildings and grounds will include sink removal and replacement; grease trap reinstallation/reconnection at the senior center; and roof improvements to the motor pool building and the Jackson Justice Complex.
The ordinance will also fund playground repairs; the installation of handicap-accessible doors at the Department of Public Works building, the senior center, the administration building and the Jackson Justice Complex; the acquisition and installation of a back-up power/automatic transfer switch for the annex building emergency generator; and the acquisition and installation of a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system for the Jackson Justice Complex.
Funds will also be provided for the purchase and outfitting of three new vehicles for the Division of Code Enforcement and Housing; one new vehicle for the Division of Recreation; and one new vehicle for the Department of the Municipal Assessor.
