Marlboro mayor, council honor police personnel for life-saving efforts

MARLBORO – Mayor Jonathan Hornik and the Marlboro Township Council have honored dozens of public servants for their service to residents during the previous year.

At a recent council meeting, 29 police officers and one 911 dispatcher received life-saving awards in recognition of their efforts to assist people at incidents that occurred between June 2018 and June 2019.

The men and women honored by the mayor and council were Cpl. Michael Haroun, Detective Erik Nolte, Cpl. Joseph Meglio, Sgt. Michael Tischler, Sgt. Brandon Stacey, Cpl. James Donovan, Sgt. Javier Garguillo, Cpl. David Ruditsky, Sgt. Andrew Goldberg and Sgt. Gregory Aronne.

And, Police Officer Donna Gonzalez, Patrolman Michael Pecoraro, Patrolman Robert Nagy, Patrolman Callen Figarola, Patrolman Adam Mattei, Patrolman Joshua Abrahamson, Patrolman Adam Levine, Patrolman Matthew Schuster and Patrolman Michael Morgante.

Also, Patrolman Brian Peterson, Patrolman Ian Thompson, Patrolman Taylor Rounds, Patrolman Derek Daulton, Patrolman Gregory Battaglia, Patrolman Ryan Anzalone, Patrolman Anthony Di Marco, Patrolman Michael Verbeke, Patrolman Dennis Stack IV, Patrolman Chris VanCuren and 911 Dispatcher Alex Tapiero.

The individuals who were honored were associated with, among other incidents, eight cardiopulmonary resuscitation saves and 22 drug overdoses that required Narcan to be administered to overdose victims, according to municipal officials.

In other business, Marlboro’s representatives entered into a settlement agreement with American Tennis Courts Inc. that involved issues with the installation of a new tennis court surface at the Marlboro Swim Club. The agreement states that Marlboro will receive $175,000 in damages.
