Police said an investigation began on Aug. 2 when a warehouse representative reported that a $5,400 order had been placed. The representative said the order was believed to be fraudulent.

The representative explained that similar orders had been placed at the company’s other fulfillment centers which were fraudulent and resulted in significant losses to the business, according to police.

Officers said they conducted surveillance on the warehouse and at approximately 2:40 p.m., they stopped the driver of a U-Haul truck after the vehicle pulled in to the warehouse and attempted to pick up the fraudulent order.

A male, 32, of Grand Street, New York, and a female, 28, of West 33rd Street, Brooklyn, were taken into custody and charged with conspiracy and criminal attempt to commit credit card fraud charges, according to police.

Police said the woman was found to be in possession of a fictitious Pennsylvania identification and a substance believed to be marijuana at the time of her arrest.

The man and the woman were released on summonses pending a future court date. The lead investigator for the case is Detective Sgt. Joseph Ciabattoni.
