Elmwood Cemetery approved as Wreaths Across America site

Elmwood Cemetery in North Brunswick has been designated an official Wreaths Across America location for the second year in a row.

This year, the goal is to place a wreath at the gravesite of each of the 650 veterans in Elmwood Cemetery, according to information provided by the cemetery after a press conference was held on Aug. 3.

Volunteers and donors will devote themselves to the mission “Remember, Honor, Teach” in North Brunswick. Planned participants include North Brunswick Boy Scout Troop 18, North Brunswick Township High School students, the North Brunswick Woman’s Club said, American Legion Post 459 and the VFW.

Last year, in honor of the World War I centennial, the North Brunswick Remembers Committee participated in Wreaths Across America at Elmwood. Every World War I veteran buried there was honored with a donated wreath which was placed by a volunteer on National Wreaths Across America Day, according to the statement.

The date of Dec. 14 will be National Wreaths Across America Day in 2019. Elmwood Cemetery is located at 425 Georges Road, North Brunswick.
