Manalapan Police Beat, Aug. 21

The Manalapan Police Department reported the following incidents occurred in the township:

• On July 31 at 8:30 a.m., patrols responded to a residence on Crystal Court. A Manalapan resident advised the officers that sometime between 9:45 p.m. July 30 and 5:30 a.m. July 31, an unknown individual removed a vehicle from the garage. Police said the perpetrator appeared to have accessed the garage by using a garage door opener that was in a vehicle that was parked unlocked in the driveway. The stolen vehicle, a 2017 Mercedes S550, was in the garage with the key fob inside. The stolen vehicle is valued at $160,000.

• On Aug. 5 at 6:34 a.m., patrols responded to a residence on Champions Way. A Manalapan resident advised the officers that at about 4:17 a.m., a doorbell camera recorded an unknown individual attempting to gain entry to a vehicle at the residence.

• On Aug. 5 at 7:10 a.m., patrols responded to a residence on Appaloosa Drive in reference to a report of a stolen motor vehicle. A Manalapan resident advised the officers that sometime between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 4 and 6:50 a.m. Aug. 5, an unknown individual
stole a 2017 Maserati GranTurismo that was parked in the driveway with the key fob inside.

• On Aug. 5 at 9:43 p.m., a Manalapan resident from Blair Lane told police that sometime during the early morning hours that day, an unknown individual entered an unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway and removed various items.

• On Aug. 6 at 8:10 p.m., patrols responded to a residence on Shira Lane in reference to a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. A Manalapan resident advised the officers that sometime during the early morning hours of Aug. 5, an unknown individual entered his
unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. No items were reported missing from the vehicle.

• On Aug. 1, a Manalapan resident advised police that earlier that day he received a message on his phone from an unknown individual. The caller led the resident to believe the phone had a virus that could only be removed if he sent payment to the caller in the form of gift cards. The resident sent the caller $1,200 in gift cards, only to realize later that the call had been a scam.

• On Aug. 3 at 11:55 p.m., patrols responded to a residence on Whirlaway Road. A resident of Manalapan advised the officers that sometime between 4:45-11:30 p.m., an unknown individual forcibly entered the home and removed jewelry.

• On Aug. 6 at 10:45 p.m., patrols responded to a residence on St. Andrews Place in reference to a report of theft. A Manalapan resident advised the officers that on July 13, an unknown individuals stole various pieces of jewelry from the home.

• On Aug. 6, a Manalapan resident reported an incident of Fraud. The resident told police that on July 30, an unknown individual used the victim’s identity to open a credit card account and make fraudulent purchases totaling $9,081.
