Princeton Pro Musica (PPM) will open its 41st season on Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. in Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University with an all-Mozart concert.
The Great Mass in C Minor, his setting of the mass text, combines towering movements for double chorus with gorgeous duets for two sopranos. The soprano soloists will be Clara Rottsolk, last heard with PPM in the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610. Joining her will be Molly Netter in her first appearance with PPM. As a bonus, the orchestra will perform the sparkling Clarinet Concerto in A Major with Paschal Archer as the soloist.
PPM’s holiday concert will take place on Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. in the historic Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton. PPM will again be joined by the talented Trenton Children’s Chorus. This warm and joyous holiday concert features the “Christmas portion” of Messiah by George Frederic Handel alongside Joy to the World, our own maestro’s stirring suite of carols and holiday songs. Richly orchestrated, this concert suite will fill you with the joy and warmth of the holiday season.
On March 15, 2020, at 4 p.m. in Richardson Auditorium, PPM honors the life and legacy of Anne Frank, seventy-five years after her death. Annelies by James Whitbourn sets the words of her diary for chorus, soprano and chamber ensemble to haunting and beautiful music. Lily Arbisser, a graduate of Princeton University, will be the soloist.
On May 9, 2020, at 4 p.m., PPM will present the program “Power and Peace: Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem” along with powerful settings of the Te Deum. Margaret Lias, mezzo, will be the soloist for the Durufle. Ms. Lias has been celebrated for her warm, arresting and rich-toned singing. The concert will also feature Eric Plutz, Princeton University Organist, on the mighty Mander-Skinner organ.
